Becoming a registrar

How to become a .swiss Domain registrar?

A company which wishes to become a .swiss Domain registrar must initially obtain an accreditation from ICANN (Registrar Accreditation Agreement -
RAA
). To do this, the company concerned must demonstrate that it meets all the technical, financial and operational criteria laid down by ICANN.

It must also comply with the requirements of Swiss regulations (Art. 17 of the ordinance on Internet Domains).

In particular, it must have a valid correspondence address in Switzerland.

If it meets the aforementioned conditions, the interested company can then contact the Federal Office of Communications OFCOM, which performs the function of the registry for the .swiss domain in the name of the Confederation, to conclude an agreement (Registry-Registrar Agreement - RRA).

The application must include the following information:

  • The postal address;
  • The correspondence address in Switzerland;
  • The name of the person authorized to sign the contract;
  • The email address of this person.
